Introduction to Sex Therapy

This course is designed for mental health professionals that wants to become more comfortable in supporting clients around addressing sexual concerns. We will review the history of the field of sex therapy, how to use modern approaches to sex therapy to create an affirming, empowering, safe space for clients, strategies to work with our own countertransference and biases around sexual practices, and an overview of sex therapy interventions.

Upon completion of this course, attendees will be able to:

  • ✔️ Identify the four stages of the PLISSIT Model

  • ✔️ Identify one key difference between the PLISSIT Model and Ex-PLISSIT Models

  • ✔️ Identify three types of providers that sex therapists may collaborate with as part of an interdisciplinary approach
